Happy Earth Day!
Earth Day is a good time to remember that energy efficiency can help the planet and even your wallet. Jamel Anderson, Residential Project Manager, shares a few tips on how we can help reduce our impact on the environment and reduce energy waste.
Here are 4 energy-saving tips:
-
If you’re not using it turn it off.
This applies to any lighting, appliances, and electronics in your home or office. We recommend using a power strip so you can easily turn off multiple items at once.
-
Energy efficient lighting.
Lighting accounts for about 15% of a typical residential utility bill. This can be drastically reduced by upgrading to energy-efficient halogen incandescents, CFLs, and LEDs.
-
Clean or change air filters.
A dirty filter will slow down air flow and make the system work 2-3x harder to keep you warm or cool. Changing out your filters monthly with help prevent this from happening.
-
Ceiling Fans
Using your ceiling fan will allow you to raise the thermostat setting about 4°F with no reduction in comfort.
